Selection Procedure

The selection process for the Indian Army JAG 34th Entry includes the following stages:

Shortlisting of Applications

The initial shortlisting of applications is done based on the academic performance and other criteria set by the Indian Army.

SSB Interview

• Stage I: Screening test including Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and Picture Perception and Description Test (PP&DT).
• Stage II: Psychological tests, Group Testing Officers (GTO) tasks, and personal interview.

Medical Examination

Candidates who qualify the SSB interview will undergo a medical examination to ensure they are medically fit for military service.

Merit List

The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the SSB interview and the medical examination. Selected candidates will be issued joining instructions for pre-commission training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.

Training and Tenure

Training

Selected candidates will undergo 49 weeks of pre-commission training at OTA, Chennai. During the training period, cadets will receive a stipend of Rs. 56,100/- per month.

Tenure

On successful completion of training, cadets will be granted a Short Service Commission (SSC) in the rank of Lieutenant. The initial tenure of engagement for SSC officers is 10 years, extendable by a further period of 4 years.

• Lieutenant: Level 10, Rs. 56,100-1,77,500
• Captain: Level 10B, Rs. 61,300-1,93,900
• Major: Level 11, Rs. 69,400-2,07,200
• Lieutenant Colonel: Level 12A, Rs. 1,21,200-2,12,400
• Colonel: Level 13, Rs. 1,30,600-2,15,900
• Brigadier: Level 13A, Rs. 1,39,600-2,17,600
• Major General: Level 14, Rs. 1,44,200-2,18,200

Additional Benefits

• Military Service Pay (MSP): Rs. 15,500/- per month
• Flying Allowance: Rs. 25,000/- per month (for Army Aviators)
• High Altitude Allowance: Rs. 25,000/- per month
• Uniform Allowance: Rs. 20,000/- per year

How to Prepare for the SSB Interview

Psychological Preparation

• Practice psychological tests such as Thematic Apperception Test (TAT), Word Association Test (WAT), Situation Reaction Test (SRT), and Self Description Test (SDT).
• Focus on developing a positive attitude, leadership qualities, and effective communication skills.

Physical Preparation

• Maintain a regular fitness routine including running, push-ups, sit-ups, and other physical exercises.
• Focus on building endurance, strength, and agility.

Group Task Preparation
