BPSC TRE 4.0 Syllabus 2026 is now available and every serious aspirant should go through it carefully before starting preparation. The Bihar Public Service Commission has kept a single written exam for all levels this time, but the structure of the paper changes according to the class you are applying for. Understanding the exact pattern, marking scheme and syllabus will help you plan your study in the right direction.
BPSC TRE 4.0 Syllabus 2026
BPSC TRE 4.0 Syllabus 2026 is designed according to the teaching level you apply for, so preparing blindly without checking the exact pattern can waste a lot of time. The Language section is only qualifying, while General Studies and the Subject paper decide your final rank. Negative marking of one-third mark applies not just for wrong answers but also for unanswered questions if Option E is not marked. Going through the complete class-wise syllabus will help you focus on the right topics and avoid unnecessary study material.

| Part-I | Language (Qualifying) | 30 | 30 |
| Part-II | General Studies | 120 | 120 |

- Part-I (Language) is qualifying in nature. You must score at least 30% in this section.

2. Middle School Teacher (Class 6 to 8)
| Part | Subject | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Part-I | Language (Qualifying) | 30 | 30 |
| Part-II | General Studies | 40 | 40 |
| Part-III | Subject | 80 | 80 |
| Total | 150 | 150 |
3. Secondary Teacher (Class 9 to 10) & Special School Teacher
Same structure as Class 6-8:
| Part | Subject | Questions | Marks |

Again the same three-part structure:

| Part-II | General Studies | 40 | 40 |
| Part-III | Subject | 80 | 80 |
| Total | 150 | 150 |
For Class 6-8, 9-10 and 11-12, the final merit list will be prepared on the basis of total marks of Part-II + Part-III.
Negative Marking Rule (Very Important)
BPSC has introduced a strict negative marking system in TRE 4.0:
- Every question has five options: A, B, C, D and E.
- If you mark a wrong answer, 1/3 mark will be deducted.
- If you leave the question unanswered (do not mark any option including E), 1/3 mark will still be deducted.
- To avoid negative marking for unanswered questions, you must select Option E.
This is a major change from earlier TRE exams. Many students lose marks simply because they leave questions blank. So make sure you mark Option E whenever you decide to skip a question.
Qualifying Marks
| Category | Minimum Qualifying Marks |
|---|---|
| General | 40% |
| Backward Class (BC) | 36.5% |
| Extremely Backward Class (EBC) | 34% |
| SC / ST / Women / PwD | 32% |
Note: The 32% relaxation for women and PwD (along with horizontal reservation) is applicable only to candidates who are permanent residents of Bihar.
